Improving the Narwhal Nation event management interface

The New School purchased an event management system through Campus Labs, dubbed Narwhal Nation starting in the 2018-2019 academic year. Serving a population of 10,000 students, it was critical for the school to assess the user experience both on the front and back end to see if it was worth the investment and whether it was truly useful. I volunteered to spearhead a multi-faceted research inquiry to assess whether it was working the way it was intended.

User centering The New School mobile App

In 2019, The New School was searching for ways to improve the user experience of their mobile app, host to 142,000 clicks this year. Designers wanted to better understand how students engaged with the app, and I volunteered to conduct interviews to find out more.

Reimagining The New School Housing website

The New School Housing website is a major marketing tool partly responsible for generating millions of dollars in revenue for the summer housing program. In collaboration with the Housing office, I undertook a multi-part analysis of how our users interact with the site to help determine what aspects can be redesigned for better use.

Assessing Community Building Efforts at The New School

Like all college campuses, The New School experiences a great deal of pressure to prove it is positively impacting its students' sense of community and attachment to the institution. Were expensive programming efforts engaged in by the Residence Life department having an impact on student sense of community and belonging? Who is attending programs and events? Where is The New School doing well with engagement and where did they need to improve? I created an extensive two part assessment project to answer these questions and more through quantitative analysis.
